Student Walk Home

The Student Walk Home Attendant Team (SWHAT) at McMaster University approached Brian Hogg Consulting after undergoing a transition; whereas in the past volunteers would sign up for a shift that would remain steady for a four-month period, volunteers would now sign up for free shifts on a weekly basis. There was a need for a system that could handle the increased volume of student requests and allow them to sign up for volunteer time quickly and easily. Most importantly, the involvement of coordinators in this process had to be minimized.

This need was filled by creating a proprietary, custom-designed system that volunteers could use to check the availability of time slots based on their volunteering roles (e.g. Dispatcher, Walker). They could then commit to the time-slot that fit their schedule. Coordinators were able to add shifts as they became available, and release them in blocks that volunteers could access. Adding shifts only takes a few minutes, and no further coordinator involvement is required.

This frees up coordinators time for more important tasks; rather than manually coordinating volunteer schedules, they can now focus on building an even better program for students.

Volunteers are similarly satisfied, able to coordinate their schedules from home, at the time that is most convenient for them.

Dealer+ Customer Management System

Brian Hogg Consulting was approached by Ormac to create a custom solution that would be used by over 200 Amvic dealers across North America. The system’s purpose is to automatically assign leads to the correct dealer based on geographical location – this streamlined the organizations data flow, and significantly improved response time.

This project involved a complete re-design and implementation of a system that would connect students, organizations, volunteers, and administrators, quickly and easily.

Getting this done involved a thorough proposal process, preceded by a discovery phase requiring insightful questions to be asked. The project anticipated potential future problems, saving the organization time and money both now and in the future.

The purpose of this project was to make it easy to access information about Bob Loree’s activities, past and present. As an active member of many organizations in addition to his own entrepreneurial endeavours, there was and is a great deal of information that has relevance to a lot of people.

This need was addressed with the creation of an integrated network of websites, including Your Potential Career In Engineering and Soar With Science. In both cases, the sites were specifically designed to allow for the option of updating content quickly and easily.

Today all of Bob Loree’s work is showcased in a way that is efficient and accessible. Any new content on a specific subject can link back to and promote his other related content.
